Pakistan newspaper calls PM Nawaz Sharif’s Kashmir dream a ‘wishful thinking’

Since 8th July, 2016, forces have killed over 50 innocent Kashmiris and injured over 4,000 while the authorities imposed ban on print and electronic media and snapped mobile services following the death of Hizb commander Burhan Mufaffar Wani.

Terming the visit of Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s Kashmir visit as “useless effort aimed at deceiving global community and Indian people as well”.

India says Pakistan should stop provoking unrest in India’s portion of Kashmir, appealing for calm after two weeks of bloody protests that have left dozens of civilians dead.

His death triggered widespread protests and resulted in the death of some 40 people so far after Indian forces tried to suppress the voice of the young Kashmiri youth who are demanding freedom from the Indian rule.

The article comes on the heels of Sharif’s statement on July 22 when he had said that Pakistan was waiting for the day Kashmir becomes its part. She also accused Pakistan of supporting separatist elements in Indian Kashmir.

He said that the botched up visit of Mr. Rajnath Singh to Kashmir only showed the lack of preparedness and the failure to do the required groundwork before holding talks to restore normality in the troubled valley.

Singh also urged residents to refrain from violence in the disputed territory, which is divided between India and Pakistan but claimed in full by both. The whole of Jammu and Kashmir belongs to India.

“There is no need for any third force to help improve the situation in Kashmir”.

He said that before taking flight to Srinagar Indian home minister “provided a clean chit to forces by stating that they are showing maxim restraint against growing Kashmiri attacks and therefore his visit can deliver nothing”.

A large number of people in the Indian-held part of Kashmir resent the presence of hundreds of thousands of Indian troops and support the rebel cause.

Malik said that “Singh and other Indian leaders have time and again issued statements congratulating their forces, encouraging them and putting blame on the oppressed instead of oppressors”.
