Pakistan ranked number-one Test side for the first time
Misbah-ul-Haq’s team drew the four-Test series against England 2-2 and it represents a remarkable achievement for a team that has not played any Tests at home since 2009.

But this looks quite impossible, due to the threat of rain and poor condition of grounds.
Pakistan are poised to become the top-ranked Test team with the rain-ravaged fourth and final Test between India and West Indies at Port of Spain nearly certain to end in a draw on Monday.
They were blanked by Sri Lanka 3-0 in the three-match series.
In 1998, the first Test of the series against England at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica lasted less than an hour before the umpires determined that the pitch was too unsafe for the English batsmen to face genuine fast bowling.
“There is no greater feeling than to achieve the number one ranking in the most traditional and purest format of the sport”.
Pakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is continuing to create history wherever he goes with the latest being scripted in the Norwegian capital city of Oslo as the 42-year-old smashed a 34-ball century in a charity match. “The number-one ranking is well deserved and a testament to the quality of cricket the team has consistently played over the past few years”.
If this happens, then Pakistan will be crowned as the number one in Test Cricket courtesy to a 2-2 draw in England.
The only way out is to play very well against the West Indies in the final match to seal the deal and to take the four-match series by a 3-0 margin in Trinidad.
ICC chief executive David Richardson congratulated Pakistan on their achievement.
Asif’s side also featured former Pakistan stars Abdul Razzaq and Mohammad Yousuf, but they were powerless to stop a rampant Misbah on the matting wicket.
“The past few weeks of Test cricket have been incredibly absorbing with some high-quality competitive series being played, exhibiting what is so special about Test cricket”.

Pakistan will now be presented with the mace, the International Cricket Council confirmed through a release. “The battle for the top ranking has made it even more exciting for all fans”, said he.
