Pakistan recall Umar Akmal in Windies T20s

Pakistan middle-order batsman Umar Akmal made a comeback into the national team after his exhilarating performances for Lahore Whites in the on-going National T20 Cup.

Akmal also impressed playing for Leicestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast.

Besides Akmal, the national selectors have also recalled allrounder, Saad Naseem after he last played in a T20 worldwide against New Zealand in December, 2014. Waqar categorically stated that he should go back to domestic cricket and then earn his place back into the National team. Raees has played 50 T20 games and has bagged 53 wickets at an average of 25.39. He was included in Pakistan’s World T20 squad but was later replaced by Mohammad Sami after suffering a hamstring injury.

From the squad picked for the sole T20I against England this summer, which Pakistan won, Amad Butt is the only casualty.

Dubai will host back-to-back T20s on September 23 and 24, and the third T20 will be on September 27 in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan will also play three one-day internationals and as many Tests against the West Indies in UAE, for which squads will be announced later.
