Pakistan summons Indian diplomat over ‘ceasefire violations’

Security officials earlier said that the Indian border forces shelled Pakistani border regions at Shakargarh sector in Punjab province over the past few days.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned to the foreign affairs ministry by the director general (South Asia & Saarc), Dr Muhammad Faisal, to register a strong protest over the killings, said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

Pakistan targeted 30 border outposts and several hamlets today with mortar bombs and heavy machine guns in Samba and Kathua districts injuring a civilian, as it continued ceasefire violations for the fourth day.

FO spokesperson says intentional targeting of civilians by India is a detestable and deplorable act.

The call, received on October 23, threatened that the Governor House, located in Karachi, would be blown up with explosives.

Foreign Office Spokesman said three Pakistani civilians were martyred when Indian security forces opened unprovoked firing at Shakargarh Zafarwal Sector of the Working Boundary on October 23, 24 and 25.

“Details of the call were also shared with him”, Khalilullah said, adding that India was asked to investigate but without giving further details.

The Pakistan government also stressed upon India to forthwith stop “ceasefire violations” and “respect” the 2003 Ceasefire Arrangement for restoration of peace and tranquillity at the LoC and the Working Boundary, it said.

Four Pakistani civilians were injured when Indian forces opened indiscriminate fire at the Working Boundary on Sunday, ARY News reports. Since then, there have been sporadic clashes, with both sides accusing the other of violating the ceasefire.
