Pakistan third in ICC Test rankings
The annual update has resulted in South Africa dropping from third position to sixth after conceding 17 points. This is because their victories over New Zealand, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in 2012-13 have all been dropped from calculations. Sri Lanka are fifth, followed by England, Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland.

According to the annual update released by the ICC on Tuesday, Pakistan are now just one point behind old rivals India in the world Test rankings. Pakistan benefited from the annual update with the defeat against South Africa by 3-0 in 2012-13 not being counted, while the 2-0 defeat to Sri Lanka in 2014-15 had its weighting reduced 50 per cent. Also the outcomes from the 2014-15 season, which was earlier weighted at 100 per cent has been weighted at 50 per cent for the latest rankings update.
Therefore, at the moment the Tigers are ranked nine with 57 points while the West Indies are ranked eighth with 65 points. The West Indies have de-seated Green Shirts from 8 position, whereas now Pakistan team stands on 9 position after annual update of ICC ODI Team Rankings.
Bangladesh had 47 points where West Indies had 76.
South Africa’s wins over England, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan from 2012/13 have been dropped from the calculations and losses against India and England from last season have dented their rankings.

Pakistan is set to visit England later this summer as they take on the hosts in a four-match Test series which will significantly impact the rankings again. The 2016 World T20 semi-finalists, New Zealand, gained 12 points to edge ahead of India, the previous number one ranked T20I team.
