Basit said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is committed to peace between the two countries and that they want to build on the positivity which was reflected in the Russian City of Ufa.
He expressed the hope that the leaders of the two countries will meet soon to initiate the dialogue process.
Reiterating the significance of higher relations between India and Pakistan, Hurriyat chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq stated he conveyed concerns about the non-inclusion of the “key” Kashmir issue in the current talks between the 2 sides in Ufa to Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit right now. “We see a glimmer of hope”, he added. Mr Basit especially thanked the Mirwaiz for flying in from J&K to attend. We should move from confrontation to cooperation.
He said the amalgam chairman was not allowed to move out of the house, even for Eid prayers. He said that Kashmir is a core issue without which dialogues can not go forward.

However, Mirwaiz who heads another Hurriyat conference faction accepted the invitation and accordingly attended the party at Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi. Besides these two all the separatist leaders of Kashmir led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were present on the occasion. The Hurriyat has earlier maintained that the decision to attend the event was not a political reaction but based on its decided policy and principles for resolution of the Kashmir issue.
