Pakistan welcomes UN Human Rights team to PoK

He said all Kashmiris have been demanding their right to self-determination, whereas in Balochistan, “not even one per cent of people support the insurgency”.
“I want to speak a bit about the people in Balochistan, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”, the Indian prime minister said in his Independence Day speech.

The UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein said in Berlin that he has been working to get observers to the parts of the disputed region since violence flared last month.
On Wednesday during a press conference here, Jaishankar had stated that Pakistan uses terrorism as a tool for diplomacy.
India insisted that Pakistan take credible steps to stem terrorism from its soil aimed at India.
“It is, therefore, essential” that the United Nations fact finding team must visit Kashmir, it added.
“As for rendering assistance to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, it is, in any case, part of India”, said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
He stated that the world was aware that Pakistan has a long history of violence and terrorism against India, as also in the broader region.
Large protests against Indian rule in Kashmir and violent clashes with police and paramilitary soldiers have occurred daily since government troops killed a popular rebel leader almost six weeks ago. “More than three decades later, displaying a similar attitude, military personnel were infiltrated across the Line of Control in Kargil in 1999”, he said. He termed it as highly provocative, irresponsible and inflammatory for the people of Pakistan.
Pakistani authorities did not allow entry of Indian mediapersons, including those from PTI and Doordarshan, inside the venue of 7th SAARC Home Ministers Meeting in Islamabad.
He said Barahamdagh and a few other traitors had “become RAW agents and Indian agents” and were shedding rivers of blood in Balochistan for a few rupees, and that is why they were thanking and appreciating Modi.
“The statement by the Indian Prime Minister [on Balochistan] includes elements that are indeed a violation of the United Nations charter”, Nafees Zakaria, spokesperson of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry, said during his weekly briefing in Islamabad.

In a response to his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry’s offer for talks on Kashmir, foreign secretary S Jaishankar said discussions should focus on cessation of terrorist activities in J&K and ending incitement to violence and terror in the Valley.
