Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have also dispatched similar cables to the President of Pakistan.

He urged the nation to work selflessly with the same zeal of independence struggle to confront the challenges ahead. He recalled that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah believed that democracy was part of life of a Muslim and was the way forward.

Meanwhile, all major public and private buildings, roads and avenues were decorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders and banners.

All guests were later served with a traditional Pakistani cuisine brunch to mark the end of the ceremony.

In Lahore, a Change of Guard ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal earlier in the morning.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtwankhwa Pervez Khattak performed the national flag hoisting ceremony in Peshawar. A cultural dance was presented on the occasion.

Rescue 1122 took out a Float in Faisalabad and there was also national flag hoisting ceremony. PEF Managing Director Tariq Mahmood hoisted the flag at the main building along with other officials.
