Pakistan wins Junior Squash Championship, PM congratulates

Pakistan treaded towards reclaiming its lost glory in squash with a convincing win at the final of World Junior Team Squash Championship against defending champions Egypt in Poland.

In the first match Pakistan’s Abbas Shoukat defeated Samuel Scherl 3-1, while in the second match Israr Ahmed defeated Andrew Douglas 3-0.

It was a surprising start for Pakistan when the top-seeds clashed as Israr Ahmad came out on top against Saadeldin Abouaish to win a closely-fought match 3-0 with scores of 11-9, 11-9 and 11-9.

In the decider, Abbas Shaukat and Marwan Tarek faced each other, the Pakistani player stunned his opponent by 11-7, 11-9, and 11-8 to assure the memorable victory for Pakistan.

This was Pakistan’s first win in the WSJ finals against Egypt after losing three consecutive finals to the same opponent.
