Pakistani foreign policy chief confirms to visit India on August 23

Indian and Pakistani National Security Advisors will meet for bilateral-level talks on August 23 in New Delhi. But at least it is ice-breaking on some issues.

“We do believe that dialogue resolves the issues”, Aziz told reporters in Islamabad.

PMs Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif had agreed on a meeting of the NSAs to discuss all issues related to terrorism, during a meeting in the Russian city of Ufa last month.

On the other hand, India said it was yet to get a “confirmation” from Islamabad on the NSA-level talks, hours within Aziz announced that he will travel to New Delhi on 23 August to hold the dialogue.

“A decision will be taken soon after consultations”, he said.

During the talks, India is expected to share evidence provided by Naved to prove that he is a Pakistani national and crossed-over from Pakistan to carry out terror attacks in the country.

On August 5, a Pakistani terrorist was killed and another caught alive after the two ambushed a Border Security Force vehicle in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and killed two security personnel.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said his government is working in agenda for the security talks.

Ownership of the Jammu and Kashmir region has been disputed by India and Pakistan following the 1947 dissolution of British India and the subsequent establishment of the two countries as independent states.

Violence in areas including Kashmir have escalated in recent weeks with regular conflicts between Indian and Pakistani troops who are stationed on the heavily militarised border.

“It is premature to talk about the agenda of the meeting which will be prepared in due course”, the spokesman said.
