Talking to reporters after arriving in Karachi on Monday, the JUI-F chief said he was hopeful that the MQM would take back its decision of leaving assemblies.
It is said that MQM chief has already agreed to return to assemblies when Fazl made him a detailed call previous day and this meeting is not more than a formality.
Fazlur Rehman said he is playing a mediator s for sake of the parliament, democracy and system.
Rasheed Godail has been shifted to Liaqat National Hospital in critical condition.
MQM’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar and MNA Kunwar Naveed among other leaders are likely to attend the meeting in which Fazl – being tasked by the government – would woo MQM lawmakers to withdraw their resignations from the assemblies.
The MQM chief said he regretted that despite reminders to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the monitoring committee was not constituted to oversee the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements in Karachi.
He said that at the headquarters, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was speaking to MQM Chief Altaf Hussain when they heard the tragic news.
“However, he wanted operation without any discrimination”, Fazl said.

MQM initially claimed to represent the Urdu-speaking migrants who moved to Pakistan with the partition of India in 1947 and has strong influence in southern Sindh province but has been accused of operating like an organized gang through its alleged use of violence and intimidation.
