Palestinian ends hunger strike
Mr Allan’s lawyer, Jamil Khatib, said that his client’s condition was serious but stable. The unusual move follows a hunger strike of more than 60 days staged by Allan, which has caused his health to severely deteriorate.

“We took him off the respirator. He’s no longer sedated”, Levy said.
The doctor said he hoped that Mr Allan would soon start eating again on his own. Allan’s body can not yet process food after such a prolonged fast. His mother confirmed that her son had ended his 65-day hunger strike and that his health is good.
Adalah, a rights group that petitioned the court for Mr Allan’s release, said that judges should have acted on his petition to be freed when it was first filed on Monday.
Israel defends the practice as a necessary tool to stop militant attacks and argues that revealing the charges would expose intelligence networks and put lives in danger.
The letter noted that such use violates the Forth Geneva Convention and Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Israel said the detention was applied to Mr Allan for his affiliation with Islamic Jihad, a Palestinian militant group that has carried out scores of attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers. Allan denies the affiliation. His case has sparked global condemnation and prompted protests in both Israel and the West Bank, including a mock force-feeding in Gaza City.
Under terms of the ruling, Allan will remain hospitalized but will no longer require shackles and will be allowed family visits. Prisoners and detainees who are also on hunger strike would be forcefully fed.
U.N has raised eyebrows over Israel’s latest decisions to curb violence warning that such decisions could instead worsen the situation with the Palestinians.
U.N political affairs chief Jeffery Feltman has informed the Security Council that “a chronic lack of adequate law enforcement” is fueling escalation between Israeli settlers and Palestinians as he warned that a new flare-up of hostilities can not be minimized.
Allan has been hospitalized at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for several weeks.

The Israeli High Court of Justice suspended the detention of Palestinian hunger striker Mohammad Allan. The military would not comment in line with official protocol.
