On Thursday, three Israelis and an 18-year-old American, Ethan Schwartz, were killed in two separate Palestinian stabbing and shooting attacks.

Israeli police officers body-search a Palestinian near the scene of a stabbing attack in Jerusalem, Monday, November 23, 2015. A ricochet from one of the bullets he fired injured a passerby – an Israeli man, hospital officials said. One of the girls was shot dead. The man, who was later identified as also being Palestinian, was slightly wounded.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government would revoke the work permits of the families of Palestinian attackers, the Jerusalem Post newspaper reported.
Later, a military spokeswoman revealed that one of the soldiers, a man, had died while the other, a female officer, had been wounded.
Israeli ZAKA emergency responders volunteer, Shlomo Gottleib, was on the scene of the attack within minutes. Over half of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers, while others were shot during demonstrations and clashes with Israeli security forces, including along the Gaza border.
The attack in Jerusalem occurred on Jaffa Road, a busy street near the city centre’s market.
In an earlier incident, Hadeel Awwad, 16, was shot dead by an Israeli security guard, while her 14-year-old cousin Norhan Awwad was seriously wounded by Israeli police as they allegedly attempted to stab two people near a central market in Jerusalem.
A 70-year-old Palestinian man, thought to have been mistaken for an Israeli, was injured in the stabbing, which the girls carried out using kitchen scissors.
The alleged attacker was shot dead, Israeli police said on Monday afternoon.
“It happens nearly every day over there and it’s bad, and too many Israelis have been killed and stabbed, and too many Palestinians”, Kerry told reporters.
Eighteen Israelis have been killed, mostly in stabbings, since mid-September. He also accused Israeli security forces of providing protection to settlers and extremists who attack Christian and Muslim holy sites.

The Palestinians say the violence is rooted in frustration over almost a half century of Israeli occupation and lack of hope for obtaining independence.
