A summer arson attack that left a Palestinian toddler and his parents dead, has unleashed a renewed cycle of intensified violence that has roiled Israel and the Palestinian territories for almost five months. One died at the scene and the second later in a hospital. No Israelis were wounded. She identified the deceased as a 40-year-old Jerusalem resident.
The Israeli military said it entered the camp to carry out an arrest when troops encountered a “violent mob” that opened fire at the Israeli forces and threw firebombs at them.
The attack occurred outside Jaffa Gate, a popular spot for tourists visiting Jerusalem’s Old City.
A wave of violence that began in October has claimed the lives of 127 people on the Palestinian side, 19 Israelis, a U.S. citizen and an Eritrean.
Israeli forces or armed civilians have killed at least 120 Palestinians, 72 of whom authorities described as assailants, while others died in clashes with security forces. Palestinian health officials said Hani Wahdan, 22, died in the clash.
Tensions have been high in Hebron, where several hundred Israeli settlers have moved in to live under heavy military guard among the local community of around 200,000 Palestinians.
She added that the two Palestinians were killed.
Israeli leaders have expressed outrage at the video. The first vehicle was parked inside a bus station and that explosion killed three and wounded 10, a police officer said. Shin Bet said the militants operated an explosives laboratory in Abu Dis, and planned to carry out suicide bombings in Israel.
A court official said security had been stepped up outside the home of a judge presiding over the case, and postings on social media, including a photograph of the jurist emblazoned with the word “guilty”, accused him of failing to stop Shin Bet mistreatment of the suspects.
