Hours earlier a Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli in Jerusalem’s Old City and was then shot and wounded by the injured man.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said two Palestinians were arrested by Israeli forces during the skirmishes. The office said that both Palestinian and Jewish politicians were barred, and the ban was open-ended.

But Israeli military officials have noted that security cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited self-rule in the occupied West Bank, is continuing.
Near the West Bank city of Ramallah, a young Palestinian man was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon during clashes with Israeli army forces.

Israel had already lifted age restrictions from Wednesday on Muslims praying at the compounds. He reportedly was subdued and taken in for questioning.
The hilltop compound has been at the heart of the recent tensions.
The worsening unrest has erupted out of tensions over the Jerusalem holy site that Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary.
The character of the recent violence has also changed from previous years, which has made it more hard to contain.
Thirteen of Israel’s 120 MPs are Arabs. There have been several days of clashes at the site over the past few weeks as Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the Al-Aqsa mosque while hurling stones, firebombs and fireworks at police.
A Palestinian suspect was detained after an Israeli man was stabbed and injured Thursday near a main road in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, Israeli police said. Israeli police said they were aware of the incident. However, the move appears to have put the Israeli leader on a collision course with hard-liners within his own governing coalition.
In Brussels, European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said it was vital for Netanyahu and Abbas to “show leadership to promote calm, encourage restraint and avoid actions which further fuel tensions”.

The stabbing of the Israeli man by the 18-year-old Palestinian woman occurred near the Western Wall, a Jewish prayer site in Jerusalem’s walled Old City abutting the al Aqsa mosque complex. Palestinian official Qadura Fares said another five were raided elsewhere. Israel’s military had no immediate comment. It was the latest violence in a week in which bloody attacks left four Israelis dead. Both men were shot dead following the attacks. Hamas said the attacker was a member of its movement.
