Israeli police said the man, who was carrying a Jordanian ID, attempted to stab Israeli soldiers with a knife. Of them, 144 were identified by authorities as assailants while others were killed during clashes and protests.

The military said a Palestinian pulled out a knife during a security check in the West Bank city of Hebron earlier Saturday and stabbed a soldier, prompting forces to open fire and kill the attacker. The three Israelis and the wounded attacker were taken to hospital.
Three Palestinians and one Jordanian man have been shot and killed by Israeli forces in separate areas across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in less than 24 hours. The multiple attacks Friday came after weeks of relative calm. Shortly afterward, two Palestinians rammed their auto into a bus stop, wounding three Israeli civilians, the military said.
“In response to the immediate threat forces at the scene shot the assailant, resulting in his death”, the spokeswoman said.
The military said in a statement that a vehicle carrying two people rammed into a civilian bus stop at a junction near the settlement of Kiryat Arba, outside the town of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian health ministry identified the killed man as Fares Khadour.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli forces opened fire at a auto with two people inside it killing one and injuring another claiming the driver attempted to ram into settlers near Kiryat Arba settlement, outside of Hebron’s Old City.
The body of a suspected assailant lies on the ground after he was shot dead by Israeli police at the Damascus gate in Jerusalem’s old city September 16, 2016. About 850 Israeli settlers live in heavily-guarded enclaves in Hebron, surrounded by tens of thousands of Palestinians.
The Jewish state, for its part, says at least 40 Israelis have been killed in violence over the same period.

It was the latest violence in a year of Palestinian attacks that at times have been near-daily occurrences. Palestinians say it is rooted in decades of living under military rule and fading hopes for independence.
