The Palestinian Ministry of Health said Oday Ersheid, 22, was killed by live fire in Hebron.
On Friday, an unidentified assailant opened fire on IDF soldiers near Jenin in the northern West Bank.
On Friday, Jerusalem prosecutors indicted a 16-year-old Palestinian girl for attempted murder.
A campaign of stabbings, shootings and car-rammings by Palestinians has killed 19 Israelis and a USA citizen since the start of October. Palestinians say the attacks stem from despair at Israel’s occupation. The man was identified by the Palestinian Ministry of Health as Issa Hroub, 55, from the nearby village of Deir Samet.
On the border with the Islamist Hamas-run coastal enclave of Gaza, a Palestinian was shot dead and 12 wounded in clashes with Israeli forces on the other side of the frontier fence.
More than half of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers. “Hundreds of Palestinians are attacking forces, hurling rocks and rolling burning tyres at them”, an army spokeswoman told AFP. Ersheid is the brother of high school student Dania Ersheid, who was shot dead by Israeli border police in late October in Hebron. He was identified by the Palestinian Ministry of Health as Sami Madi, in his 30s. Hours earlier, shots were fired at the West Bank’s Gilboa checkpoint Friday morning.
Following an investigation into several cases of Palestinian deaths, Amnesty International found that Dania’s killing was “absolutely unjustified” and called for Israel to end its “pattern of unlawful killings”. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties.
Clashes: Israel blames incitement by political and religious leaders for the violence.
The IDF confirmed the driver was killed by the soldiers’ fire.
“An Israeli soldier asked her to take the knife out of her bag, then he immediately fired gunshots into the air”, the witness said.
Palestinian officials said that another 68 Palestinians in Gaza were seriously injured, 58 from live fire and 10 from asphyxiation due to inhalation of tear gas.
The army said that, during “routine activity in Ramallah”, troops were attacked and responded with “riot dispersal means”.
