According to the Economist, the two leaders agreed that Russian Federation would not harm Israeli strategic interests in Syria, which include preventing weapons from reaching Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Israel would refrain from helping groups fighting to remove Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The attacker was identified as Bassem Salah from the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

In October alone, just short of 1,000 Palestinians, including 147 children, had been detained by Israeli forces, according to Addameer. The fatality brings to 105 the number of Palestinians killed in the latest wave of violence, the vast majority of them Israel says are attackers, shot dead during or after attempts to stab or run over Israelis.

Israeli forces have killed 94 Palestinians, many of whom were carrying out assaults and others in clashes with police and troops.

“Netanyahu convened the meeting”, one official told Haaretz, “because information had reached Jerusalem that the Palestinian Authority was planning new steps against Israel in the global arena, in light of Kerry’s failure to obtain any Israeli concessions”.

The military said it shut down the “Dream” radio station overnight, marking the third time Israel has closed a Hebron station it accuses of inciting violence.

Such closures have been among a raft of security measures taken by Israel in bid to halt the attacks.

The bill, announced on parliament’s website, follows a law adopted in early November to toughen penalties against Palestinians for throwing rocks at civilians and security personnel.
