Palestinian shot dead by Israeli police officer

Soon after, the military said a Palestinian rammed his vehicle into Israeli soldiers near the volatile West Bank city of Hebron, injuring six before he was shot and killed. The Palestinians say it’s rooted in frustrations over Israel’s almost half a century-long occupation. It is the worst unrest since last year’s Gaza war and has prompted talk of a new Palestinian uprising, or Intifada, against Israel.

It did not go into detail as to which institutions are affected. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter with the media.

The same day, Israel said it was suspending various scheduled European Union meetings in response to the labelling move, which it harshly condemned.

The Palestinians claim all of the West Bank for part of a future state. In the latest bloodshed, Israeli police reported a pair of stabbings Sunday.

Early on Sunday, a 38-year-old Palestinian stabbed an Israeli Border Police officer at Damascus Gate, lightly wounding him.

The foreign woman (her nationality still not known), in her thirties, sustained a moderate wound in her back.

Several weeks ago, an Israeli security crackdown in Jerusalem, including roadblocks in Palestinian neighbourhoods, was followed by a lull in attacks in the city, but violence has recently returned.

In a separate incident an attacker stabbed a woman near a bus stop in north Jerusalem on Sunday before fleeing the scene, Israeli police said.

The EU says settlements constitute an obstacle to peace and threaten to make a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict impossible. At least 96 Palestinians have also died, including 61 said by Israel to be attackers.

Netanyahu, who will be meeting with global leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Francois Hollande on Monday amid a climate change summit in Paris, made the statements shortly after two attacks were carried out by Palestinians in Jerusalem.
