A statement from the army said that the stabbing occurred after several Palestinians inside a vehicle threw stones at soldiers, leading to a chase.

According to the statement, Israeli troops chased the stone-throwers when “the vehicle stopped and one of the Palestinians came out of the auto and stabbed a soldier in his neck”.

Security forces then pursued the vehicle before one Palestinian exited the auto and proceeded to stab a nearby soldier, wounding him in light condition. The soldier was lightly wounded and taken to the Beilinson Hospital for further treatment.

When the Israeli soldier approached the vehicle, the assailant stabbed him, inflicting light wounds, she said.

Earlier, security forces detained a Palestinian woman in the Chevron region for allegedly carrying a knife, according to locals.

During attempts to stop the assailant while he was in his vehicle, security forces rammed the auto.
