Palestinian shot dead in West Bank clashes

Aref Daraghmeh, who monitors settlement activities in the Jordan Valley, said an Israeli occupation army force accompanied by heavy machinery broke into al-Hadidiya and proceeded to demolish residential structures that shelter local Bedouin families, according to Wafa News.

The Palestinian ministry of health said on Thursday that 101 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army and security forces since clashes with Israel began on October 1.

Meanwhile, International Workers Transport Federation president Paddy Crumlin condemned Monday’s “cold-blooded” shooting of Palestinian taxi driver Shadi Khasib by an Israeli settler.

Thursday’s incident at Zaatara marks the third Palestinian to be shot dead at checkpoints around Nablus this week.

But a senior Israeli government official said there was no internal division over how to tackle Palestinian violence.

Attacks by Palestinians have killed 19 Israelis, and 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, among them 58 who Israel said were assailants.

Nineteen Israelis have been killed in attacks during the same time period. The Palestinians claim all of the West Bank for part of a future state.

Her cousin, 16-year-old Hadeel Wajih Awad, was shot dead after stabbing a 70-year-old Palestinian in the back with scissors in Jerusalem – in what is assumed to have been a case of mistaken identity, as Palestinians have targeted Israelis in a wave of knife attacks in recent weeks. Israel says the structure is a security measure meant to keep attackers out of its cities.

Israel says the violence stems from Palestinian incitement and incendiary videos on social media. Palestinians also accuse Israel of using excessive force in suppressing violence.

Yaalon told lawmakers that construction of the fence will take a year.

The IDF also recommended to the political leadership in Israel that official Palestinian security forces be supplied with weapons and ammunition.

The violence was sparked following unrest surrounding the east Jerusalem flashpoint site of the al-Aqsa mosque, holy to both Jews and Muslims, and spread out to outbursts of violence throughout Israel and the Palestinian territories.
