Dozens of Palestinian youth were reported injured in clashes with Israeli forces throughout the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza on Friday. Palestinians massacred 67 Jewish residents in 1929.
During the conflict, more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed, the vast majority of them civilians, while 66 Israeli soldiers died. Then came Friday’s killings. An unknown assailant opened fire on a auto south of the city, the army said, killing a father and son and wounding a teenager.
For the Palestinians, the Israeli security crackdown is the harshest in a decade. “And since I have the relationships, people are maybe prepared in a few way to be more forthcoming”, he said.
The Israeli army confirmed that a man who tried to attack the operatives during the raid had been shot but did not have details of his condition.
Other reports said a medic was reportedly shot in the ear during a protest near al-Azza refugee camp in the city of Bethlehem. Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence agency later arrested five Palestinians it said were part of a Hamas cell that carried out the attack.
Every incident merely worsens the feelings of distrust.
“This is an outright crime”, Shawar said.
A spokesperson for Hadassah hospital said at the time that the settler, 58, had received a light “stab” wound to his chest, and had possibly been hit with a stone in his head.

Jehad Shawar, the director of Hebron’s al-Ahli hospital where the incident took place, told Palestine radio 20 to 30 men arrived in two mini vans at about 3 a.m. They entered with someone in a wheelchair pretending to be pregnant.
The Israeli public radio said a Palestinian has left his auto and shot the vehicle.
The military said the “terrorist fled the scene” after the attack and that troops were searching the area.
Mohtasseb said he wished he could pay the same rites to his son, Mahdi, 23.
The Israeli military said troops shot a man at the hospital while they were there to arrest a suspect in a stabbing attack.
According to statement published by al-Haq, a Ramallah-based human rights organisation, Israeli forces have employed a “policy of disproportionate indiscriminate and excessive use of force against Palestinians, including paramedics and health facilities”.
The bodies of eight babies have been found at an apartment in the Bavarian town of Wallenfels, police said Friday.
