Palestinians die in West Bank attacks on Israelis, clashes

Israeli forces killed three Palestinian assailants in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, Israeli authorities said, as a 12-week surge in street violence showed no sign of abating.

Bilal Zayd, 23, was from the Qalandiya refugee camp between Jerusalem and Ramallah, where clashes broke out Thursday between Israeli security forces and Palestinians.

Palestinians have grown frustrated with Israel’s occupation, the complete lack of progress in peace efforts and their own fractured leadership.

Bezalel Smotrich, whose Jewish Home party is a powerful partner of Netanyahu’s conservative Likud, voiced suspicion about the leak of the wedding video, which Channel 10 said had originally been seized by state investigators.

One of the victims died of stab wounds sustained during the attack, according to Israeli police. One soldier was lightly injured. The firebombing killed a Palestinian couple and their 18-month-old son.

During questioning, it emerged that the cell was led by a 24-year-old Palestinian from the Kalkiya area, 24-year-old Ahmed Azam, the Shin Bet said.

At least 120 Palestinians have died by Israeli fire in the same period, including 82 said by Israel to be attackers.
