Both of the victims suffered moderate wounds, police said. One of the victims was shot dead by Israeli border police officers who aimed to kill the terrorist who stabbed the man. The other man was pronounced dead after undergoing emergency surgery that aimed to stop excessive bleeding from multiple stabbing wounds in his upper torso.
Many of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers, while others have been shot dead by Israeli security forces during protests or clashes. Authorities also say three people were wounded in the attack, one possibly by police trying to stop the assailants.
129 Palestinians have been killed in the violence. almost half of them attackers.
Police identified the two attackers as Palestinians in their early 20s from the West Bank. The Palestinian health ministry identified him as Iyad Idaissat, 25, from the village of Yatta. Israeli forces or armed civilians have killed at least 118 Palestinians, most of whom authorities have described as assailants.
Since mid-September, near-daily Palestinian stabbing, shooting and vehicle ramming attacks have killed 19 Israelis and an American student. The two, Anan Hamad, 20, and Issa Asaf, 21 were convicted terrorists who were involved in violent attacks against Israeli targets since 2010.
Palestinians have grown frustrated with Israel’s occupation, the complete lack of progress in peace efforts and their own fractured leadership.
Israeli leaders have expressed outrage at the video.
“The shocking pictures that were broadcast show the true face of a group that constitutes a danger to Israeli society and to the security of Israel”, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.
Shortly afterward another Palestinian man tried to attack Israeli forces near Hebron with a screwdriver.
