Panorama Festival promoters are trying to distinguish the event from the increasingly crowded music festival field by promising an advanced technology theme, including an interactive art installation called the Future Lab and a partnership with The Verge, a tech website.

With the battle for festival supremacy in New York City looming, the colonizers have announced its battle plan.

LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar, The National, and many more will headline the first ever Panorama Festival, planned for July on Randalls Island this summer.

Panorama has been dubbed the Coachella of the East Coast because it’s produced by the same company that handles the massive California festival.

Arcade Fire kick off the fest Friday July 22nd with a headlining set following performances by Alabama Shakes, Major Lazer, FKA twigs, Silversun Pickups, ScHoolboy Q, Broken Social Scene and more. Designed by renowned artists in collaboration with The Verge’s editors, Future Lab will showcase new technology in unconventional ways. It’s technically possible to play on the Friday at Splendour then jump on a longhaul, time-zone leaping flight to play at a festival in North America but it’s also the sort of tour schedule that’s likely to cause a lot of problems if a flight is delayed or baggage goes missing.

Governors Ball earlier announced its lineup will include rap superstar Kanye West, alternative rock icon Beck and The Strokes, a key force in the NY punk revival in the 2000s.
