Panthers’ Davis has surgery, should play

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton threw two touchdowns and ran for two more in the contest. Interestingly, it was little spoken-of Corey Brown who also had 113 yards through the air and caught four passes.

Cox/Getty Images After breaking his arm in the NFC Championship, Thomas Davis said he’ll do everything in his power to play in the Super Bowl. Arizona had the No. 1 ranked offense in the regular season, but Carolina limited them to 15 points on Sunday while intercepting Carson Palmer four times.

Carolina will try to pressure Palmer defensively and use the NFL’s second-ranked running attack to take advantage of an Arizona defense that allowed an average of 127 rushing yards a game over their past three starts. “I keep saying it: We’re not finished”. Davis headed to the sideline with trainers holding his right arm, then went to the locker room.

The quarterback has only lost one game this season and helped the Panthers to a 49-15 victory over the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

The 32-year-old is a career Panther, a first-round pick by the franchise in 2005, and wants nothing more than to bring a Super Bowl title to Charlotte.

Cam Netwon has dabbed and performed his way into the Super Bowl, but not everyone always believed in him.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera confirmed Monday afternoon Davis had undergone surgery and continued to say he expects Carolina’s veteran leader to be available against Peyton Manning and Co. “We’ve got one more.’ We’ve got work left to do”.

It put them into Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos.

It’s not going to look like winter wonderland, as it did for the Panthers during practice this week, but it’s not going to be above 40 during the day, and the temperature will be quickly dropping to freezing as the sun sets. “Yeah, we won the football game, but there are some things we’ve got to be better with”.

Rivera said if anybody can play through the pain, it would be Davis, who has battled back from three torn ACLs in the same knee to play at an All-Pro level. Greg Olsen was as great as usual, leading the team with six receptions while tying for the most yards with 113 yards. The contest wasn’t settled until Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby picked off a Tom Brady pass on a 2-point convert attempt that would have tied the game with 12 seconds left.

Carolina’s Graham Gano opened the scoring with a 45-yard field goal and Ted Ginn electrified the Carolina home crowd by scoring on a 22-yard run as the Panthers seized a 10-0 edge just 10:29 into the first quarter.
