Panthers DE Jared Allen ruled out for NFC championship game

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera told Jared Allen, the NFL’s active sack leader, that he will be sitting out this Sunday’s NFC championship game against the Arizona Cardinals due to the broken foot Allen suffered in last weeks Divisional Round against the Seattle Seahawks.

“It has been a blessing”, Coleman said on Wednesday.

“He studies more than anybody I know”, Brown said. “I wanted to come here and be the running back they expected me to be”.

Prediction: In my honest opinion, this is a tough match to predict because both clubs can win this game.

“Believe it or not, this is the first time ever in the National Football League playoffs that Heisman Trophy winning QBs have faced off. That seems impossible, but it’s true”.

“Really, it’s a feeling I haven’t had since the Ohio State days”, said Coleman, who played at OSU from 2006 to ’09 and was named all-Big Ten as a senior. Allen is not happy about it and said that he is ready to play, but Rivera said he wants to protect Allen from himself and would rather have him stronger if they make it to the Super Bowl. Also consider last week against the Seahawks, Short tackled Marshawn Lynch on the Seahawks first offensive play for a three yard loss, and on the very next play, pressured Russell Wilson into a bad throw that was picked off by Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly and returned for a touchdown; Short also had another sack on Wilson later in the game.

“I don’t get nervous”, said 26-year-old Newton. He rose to starter in 2011 and ’12, but when coach Chip Kelly took over in 2013, Coleman was relegated to special teams.

2 – The Panthers have rushed for 100 or more yards in 30 straight games and are 21-2 in the last 23 of those.

And Coleman has breathed deep the team atmosphere.

We all know what the big matchup is going to be watch: the Cardinals wide receivers against the Panthers secondary. “In fact, I think there’s only one, large, final box left for us to check off: Win a Super Bowl. It’s just a big family”. “It’s just about having the right opportunity”. “You can talk to me or Thomas or Roman (Harper) or Josh (Norman) or Kurt (Coleman) or any of those guys that are playing back there”.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Carolina Panthers have a reputation of being a defensive team.

They have become fixtures on a defense that has ranked in the top 10 in each of the past three seasons and forced a league-high 39 turnovers in the regular season. “It’s not a comfortable feeling for me”.

I mean, come on. And if they don’t, they don’t. “It’s a process. We study film and try to make sure we’re prepared in knowing how and when he likes to run and try to do our best to stop it”. “And if we can get a Super Bowl ring, that will validate everything I’ve been working for”.
