Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Star Lotulelei was carted off the training camp practice field Monday with an apparent foot injury.

While head coach Ron Rivera didn’t know the extent of Lotulelei’s injury, he did note that the foot was sore and would be further examined.

Team trainer Ryan Vermillion stated in a release that the former 13th player drafted overall in 2013 “has a stress reaction in his foot”. “We are going to be cautious”.

The injury news of Star Lotulelei is certainly something to keep an eye on in Panthers camp especially considering fellow defensive lineman Kawann Short is sidelined with back spasms.

Star Lotulelei has another foot injury. “The doctors thought it would be better to take him in just to be sure”.

Hot Stuff: The team reduced a few of the timed work periods during Monday’s practice and added additional water breaks after Rivera got word the heat index had reached a high of 109 on the Wofford practice fields. Lotulelei, considered a space eater in the middle of Carolina’s defensive line, had 27 tackles and two sacks last season.

How significant a blow is this to the Panthers if it lingers on into the season?
