Panthers have NFL-best 10 players selected for Pro Bowl
It’s safe to say that Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson might be one of the most glaring snubs from the 2016 Pro Bowl selections announced Tuesday night. With two Pro Bowls now on his resume, he has more than validated himself as a top lineman in this league.

The NFL Pro Bowl will be held in Honolulu on January 31 and will be broadcast live by ESPN.
Kickoff returner Cordarrelle Patterson appeared to have a strong case, too. The only seasons in which Miami did not have a Pro Bowl representative was following the 1980 and 1997 campaigns.
Headlining that group is inside linebacker Derrick Johnson, who has a team-high 100 tackles (eight for loss), seven pass defensed, four sacks and two interceptions in his first year back from a season-ending Achilles injury. While he did appear lost at times when defensive coordinators went with exotic blitzes, Collins should overcome that some day and join Travis, Zack and Tyron at the Pro Bowl.
Matthews earned the sixth selection in his seven-year career (2009-12, 2014), and his first at inside linebacker. Tight end Tyler Eifert makes his first, along with safety Reggie Nelson. His four Pro Bowl selections rank tied for second in team history for most appearances by a defensive back while he trails only Deron Cherry’s team record of six Pro Bowls by a Chiefs safety. He passes Bart Starr (1960-62, 1966) for the second-most selections by a Green Bay quarterback, trailing Brett Favre’s nine (1992-93, 1995-97, 2001-03, 2007).
Gostkowski was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career and for the third straight season.
The Carolina Panthers lead the National Football League with 10 players selected for the Pro Bowl.
Nearly half of Carolina’s starters got selected, including QB Cam Newton, RB Jonathan Stewart, TE Greg Olsen, FB Mike Tolbert, guard Trae Turner and center Ryan Kalil (Matt Kalil’s brother) on offense and DT Kawann Short, LBs Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis and cornerback Josh Norman on defense.
The alternates are quarterback Andy Dalton, defensive end Carlos Dunlap and special teams player Cedric Peerman. Among the other Patriots honored were tight end Rob Gronkowski and cornerback Malcolm Butler, whose last-minute interception clinched New England’s Super Bowl win over Seattle.

Twenty-five players selected were first-timers, including three rookies: St. Louis’ Todd Gurley, Lockett and Kansas City’s Marcus Peters.
