Panthers hold off Rams 13-10, push season back on track

The Rams are now 3-5 on the season, falling to third place in the NFC West. Los Angeles will travel to NY for their next game against the Jets on Sunday, November 13.

For the Rams pass rush, it was a significant victory in the trenches – one that, for most teams, would’ve meant an actual victory on the field.

But at his postgame press conference, Newton was anything but bothered by his lack of stats or his team’s ability to score just one touchdown.

Nobody is going to confuse Case Keenum and the Rams’ wideouts for Tom Brady and the Patriots’ receivers any time soon, but for what it’s worth Carolina’s defensive backs did their jobs adequately today.

Asked about the cheers for Goff, Keenum shrugged and said, “They have a right to feel however they want to feel”.

The complexion of the game could’ve changed if not for a dropped pass from tight end Lance Kendricks: Keenum’s pass bounce off Kendricks’ chest near the goal line just as he was coming off his route, forcing the Rams to settle for a field goal near the midway point of the fourth quarter.

Let’s hope how Fisher handles things in that game doesn’t do any more damage. “That’s what we did”.

The San Francisco 49ers have a historically bad defense this season.

“They’re a physical bunch”, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “I keep saying that as you guys keep asking the question”.

“(Aaron Donald) is about as good as anyone. “I get ready to play, and that’s what I do”. Gurley’s continued struggles have left many wondering whether past year was a fluke or if Case Keenum is enough of a non-threat that teams are just overloading the box in an attempt to stop the run and dare Keenum to attack them through the air.

They sure do perform, however, as two, the Rams’ personalities split right down the line of scrimmage. The Panthers went 53 yards in nine plays to score the first touchdown of the game. “To come away with a win was big for us”. Though the Rams scored on the next play, the moment was not lost on Ealy.

The game was the Rams annual Salute to Service military appreciation game, celebrating and recognizing members of the military.

They Rams have reached the season’s midpoint, and they are one game into a four-game stretch against opponents that had been struggling. I can tell they’re frustrated.

“We’d like to raise our bar”. I’m getting ready to play the Jets. “I’m uncomfortable because I didn’t expect to be 3-and-whatever we are, but I’m not uncomfortable at all”.

“You definitely don’t like to see fans do that, especially on offense”, linebacker Alec Ogletree said.

“No games are easy”, Ogletree said. It was the type of defensive effort that wins games in the NFL. Every game we’ve lost we’ve been there at the end.

“They were giving me a lot of open looks”, Kendricks said, “and I was pretty much just taking advantage of what the defense gave me – as well as just trying to make some plays”. “We’re going to have to find a way to win those close games”.

But it was impossible to blame the fans, who also were treated to more delightful daylight fireworks, the washed-out pyrotechnics not unlike the Rams’ offense – some attention-getting noise at first but, ultimately, not much to really see.

Asked if the situation made him uncomfortable, Fisher said the Rams’ record made him uncomfortable but quickly indicated that he had the support of owner Stan Kroenke.
