His three playoff games of 150-plus receiving yards are the most in the Super Bowl era.

The Carolina Panthers slaughtered the Arizona Cardinals 49 to 15 this afternoon for their second ever NFC Championship, and a ticket to the biggest game in the sport.

Earlier, Denver and veteran quarterback Peyton Manning edged last year’s champion New England Patriots and their signal caller Tom Brady 20-18 for the AFC title.

Broncos RB Cyrus Gray: He signed a reserve / futures deal with the Broncos so he won’t be on the active roster for the Super Bowl but he will be on the team this offseason. He didn’t play in their NFC Championship win over the Arizona Cardinals because he was injured but Allen has been with the Panthers since the Bears traded him there midseason. Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said the team wanted to get the deal done, since they believe Newton can lead them to a Super Bowl. Unlike last week the Panthers kept the pedal down for a full 60 minutes and boosted the lead to 34-7 on the strength of two Newton touchdown runs.

Ted Ginn Jr. got the last laugh against the Arizona Cardinals. “We came out here and fought our tails off and we did what a lot of people said we couldn’t do”.

Newton, who led the team to an NFL-best 15-1 record and is the favorite to claim league Most Valuable Player award, spoke to the team at halftime about playing hard to the end.

The 17-1 Panthers beat the 14-4 Cardinals from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and will move on to play in Super Bowl 50.

The Panthers advanced to Sunday’s NFC title game for the fourth time in the franchise’s history and first since 2005.

Newton finished with 335 yards passing and 47 rushing as Carolina won its 13th straight home game, including three in the playoffs.

Capping the barrage was Kuechly, who returned an interception 22 yards for a score.

Newton indicated the Panthers won’t be going to northern California to hang out with Steph Curry or take a trip to wine country.

That being said, I expect (or hope) the two highest-scoring offences in the National Football League will put up a pile of points, but I think the difference will be the strength in the middle of Carolina’s defence. “We’ll be ready to go in two weeks”.
