Panthers unapologetically themselves as team heads to Super Bowl
Cam Newton is still the quarterback, Ron Rivera is still the head coach and their coordinators are the same, too.

Newton, who was decked out in $849 Versace zebra stripe skinny trousers upon landing in San Francisco has one last day of media duties before the Panthers begin their final preparations for Sunday’s game. He is a 6-foot-5, 240-pound specimen who can escape, or run on goal.
Now in his fifth season, he is blossoming into everything a team dreams of when it picks a player No. 1 overall in the draft. He passed for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns during the Panthers’ 15-1 regular season while rushing for 636 yards and 10 more TDs, the latter tying for fifth in the league with a bunch of running backs. “And I’m not slowing down any time soon so I like being a wing guy”. I’m hoping to be a trailblazer, to not give an avenue only for African-American quarterbacks, but athletic quarterbacks as well. “It’s like a combination of Daunte Culpepper and Randall Cunningham”. That the Panthers nearly went unbeaten this year, and are a game away from winning the championship, is dumbfounding. He’s also now dealing with a broken arm that he’s had since the NFC title game, less than two weeks ago.
“So I spoke, got a little bit out of control and I lost my composure”.
Newton, the likely front-runner for the Most Valuable Player award this season, is nothing like the average pocket-passer. Its incredible to play for Peyton, Thomas says. “The only difference is the quarterback can throw, the quarterback can actually go through his progressions”. So, you know, no pressure. “Going to have to bring up eight in the box”.
The fifth-year quarterback turned out to be right.
“I don’t get it. I don’t know what you guys want to know, man. But it is what it is”.
“A lot of it is just reps”, Panthers quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey said.
If Newton wins after a brilliant performance will his narrative be that of a triumphant champion or an egregious self-promoter who comports himself unprofessionally?
“Most people can’t get that done”.
“I’m an African-American quarterback that scares people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to, ” Newton said.
“As long as he is not directing that at anyone, no. It doesn’t bother me”. “And this is why he’s so effective”. Now, one will play a major part, maybe the major part, in ascending to the sport’s highest rung.
After Josh Norman was informed of Harrison’s comments, the cornerback fired back, reminding Harrison of one of the worst losses in his career.
James Harris of the Bills and then Los Angeles Rams, first black quarterback to make a Pro Bowl.
Harrison stressed that he has no issues with Newton’s celebratory dances, but that the only way to stop him is to hurt him.
“Trust me, I really like Cam Newton”, he said. “You make him pay the price”. If he keeps it, I’m telling all my DBs, chop his legs out. “I think having been in the national championship game (for Auburn), it’s kind of helped him in terms of preparation for the onslaught of attention we have gotten as a football team and he’s gotten as an individual”. “So it’s all about sending those body blows”. Injuring Newton in order to win is not something to glorify – it’s reprehensible.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton puts his trousers on just like the rest of us: One leg at a time.

“I think he’s the new generation of quarterback and I think it would be great to see somebody who’s not that prototypical kind of stereotype of what a quarterback’s supposed to look like and sound like and move like, and I think it’s great”, Subban added. “I know how to speak Spanish, English obviously – and I speak pretty good Ebonics”.
