Panthers WR Benjamin injures left knee

There’s a good chance Carolina’s playoff hopes hit the ground simultaneously with its No. 1 wide receiver.

Corey Brown hasn’t proven he can do that. Ted Ginn Jr., who moves so smoothly it’s as if he’s not running fast, usually is the fastest player on whatever field he steps.

We know Olsen has the ability to be an excellent and consistent target, so Funchess has to be there to lead the way for the wide receivers.

There’s a reason the Panthers were excited about their depth at receiver, but it all began with Benjamin.

“#Panthers Rivera says Kelvin Benjamin has a sprained knee”. He was having a tremendous camp.

According to the Carolina Panthers, Benjamin tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Both coaches acknowledged there will probably be some heated moments, but players have to control themselves and not let their emotions get out of hand. More would be known after the MRI.

He caught eight passes of 20 or more yards.

“It’s awesome, because we don’t get to see them very often”, said Diane Petrice, a Dolphins fan from Fountain Inn.

Alexander, who missed 14 games last year due to consecutive substance abuse suspensions, and Ealy appeared to be the top two contenders to win Hardy’s old spot. “If Coach Philbin said anything to our guys it was as if I were talking”. “He’s a heck of a player”. It was great seeing the staff, equipment guys, trainers who worked on your body and helped you out. Nobody expected Benjamin to immediately replace Carolina’s all-time leading receiver, Steve Smith, last season. Maclin went on to have the best season of his career in 2014, when he secured 85 receptions, 1,318 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

With Benjamin out for the year, Cam Newton’s job just got a lot harder. “It starts with us to make something happen”.

Dallas Thomas had a satisfied look on his face and, most importantly, no visible signs of a scrap as he walked off the practice field Wednesday.

“Up early and ready to go”, Cotchery said of Benjamin.

Benjamin’s injury robs the Panthers of their second-biggest athletic freak on offense, but that shouldn’t overshadow the fact that Funchess is a freak in his own right.
