Paper Mario: Color Splash leaks in full two weeks ahead of release

However, people who had purchased and pre-loaded Paper Mario: Color Splash discovered they could immediately begin playing the game.

Multiple Wii U owners took to Twitter to show off different screens from the game as soon as the game became available late last night and early this morning.

Paper Mario: Color Splash didn’t make the best first impression with fans when it was unveiled over the summer. Speaking with Kotaku earlier this year, a producer on the game revealed that Paper Mario Color Splash was completely finished back in June.

If you just can’t wait for Nintendo’s big holiday Wii U game release, you don’t have to.

Without nearly any other Wii U games releasing in the remainder of 2016, it was likely a savvy business move on Nintendo’s part to hold the game back for several months so that a new, first party Wii U game was available towards the start of the busy holiday season. Hopefully that tone shifts to one of pleasant surprise for Nintendo’s (apparently final) major Wii U release.

On September 22, 2016, Nintendo offered a Paper Mario: Color Splash pre-load on the Nintendo Wii U eShop. Its RPG elements appear to have been substantially stripped down from the first few games in the series, with players negatively comparing it to the 3DS entry, Paper Mario: Sticker Star. If you’re still hoping to get the game, don’t worry; Paper Mario: Color Splash will be out for everyone else on October 7.
