Kiwi athletes have picked up four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals so far.

“When I came across that finish line, I held the tape in the air and wondered whether it was all real”.

The last British athlete to manage Cox’s fantastic feat was Isabel Barr, who won medals in shooting, javelin, and shot putt at Seoul 1988. Latifat Tijani and Esther Onyema won Silver medals respectively.

The tally, after just four full days of competition, is already more than half of the West African nation’s haul of 13 medals at the London 2012 Paralympics, and there are still seven days to go in Rio.

Richard Whitehead, a crowd-favourite from London 2012, set a Paralympic record of 23.07 seconds, qualifying for Sunday’s T42 200m final.

“If, as many people believe, this is a political protest, we can take some form of action against them”, Spence said.

“Doing the two sports, taking up cycling and being on top of the world, it’s wonderful”. I might not be able to do one of the sports, let alone two.

Meanwhile, Grace Clough, Daniel Brown, Pamela Relph, James Fox and cox Oliver James retained GB’s Paralympic crown in the mixed coxed four. “It’s going to be a really interesting event, a really handsome setting, most of the girls that I race with who’ve come here to the track, they’re in professional teams like I am so we’ve been racing on the road in women’s world tour races, professional UCI races, so we’re looking forward to seeing them back on the road again”. I’m just in shock, I’m Paralympic, world and European champion and perhaps I’ll have my first beer in two years now.

“It is insane to do the two sports but I have showed that whatever the setbacks in life you can do it”.

“It’s an honor and a priveledge every time that you get named to a team this large and incredible”, said Stilwell.

“Without a doubt, I shouldn’t be winning a 500m, it should be won by a sprinter”.
