Filipino basketball prodigy Kobe Paras will just have to continue what he’s doing to reach the NBA someday, said his high school basketball coach.

Kobe Paras, playing against his father Benjie during an exhibition game recently, is set to play for the UCLA Bruins of the US NCAA next season.
Other players who signed the commitment letter to play for UCLA were Ike Anigbogu of Centennial High School and Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills High School. “This one is for my family back home”.
“We’re excited that he’ll be joining us in Westwood”. Scout.com has listed him as the top center in the state of California and in the West and as the No. 6 center, nationally (ranked No. 13 in the country by ESPN.com).
According to the UCLA Bruins’ website, Alford received a signed National Letter of Intent from Paras on Wednesday, the first day of early signing period.
Kobe is the son of Benjie Paras, who was named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the Philippine Basketball Association in 1989.
Paras joins the Bruins as a member of its 2016 recruiting class.
The coach continued, “He just loves the game”.
The news was made official by the Twitter account of UCLA’s men’s basketball team, which added in its post: “It’s official, Kobe’s a Bruin!”

Paras was recruited by the Bruins after playing impressively with Cathedral High School, the Middlebrooks Academy, and in the FIBA 3×3 U18 Championship and 2014 FIBA Asia U18 Championship. “We like how he can attack off the dribble and get to the rim in the open court”, he added.
