Pardew hopes Benteke can fire Palace back to winning ways
Benteke, who signed for Liverpool from Aston Villa for £32.5m little more than a year ago, endured a hard first season at Anfield and it quickly became clear that he did not fit into Jürgen Klopp’s plans after the German replaced Brendan Rodgers in October 2015. I feel so sorry for my players, they gave everything they could but it was not to be. “He gets the sort of goals you would expect, but now and then he just pulls a rabbit out of the hat with a goal”.

“We’ve lost two this week, Mile Jedinak (left for Championship side Aston Villa) and Yala Bolasie (signed by rivals Everton)”.
“The board have been tremendously supportive in knowing that we’ve got to address the issue”, he continued.
“Christian is our first big step to that”.
“People are talking about our run in this calendar year, but that’s what we’re addressing”, Pardew insisted.
Pardew was forced to withdraw Damien Delaney with a knock just before Spurs’ victor, a decision which infuriated the defender, replacing him with James Tomkins, who failed to pick up the scorer Wanyama. “I’ve seen it again and him and Papa [Souare] should probably do better in that situation”.
And the Eagles boss said: “It is galling for a team that’s strong on set plays. It was a corner where we were being stretched – Spurs were good at corners today – and to lose Damo was unfortunate for Tomkins”, Pardew said.
“Damien is sore now”. He took a heavy challenge and he was courageous enough to put himself up for staying on.

And Xia has revealed that due to the nature of the payment structure, Liverpool have yet to finish paying for the player they have just sold.
