Gianna was carried over to the popemobile and Pope Francis gave her a kiss on the head.
Now, Gianna’s parents say the tumor is shrinking and she’s getting stronger, global media report.
The child was suffering from an inoperable brain tumor.
Parents of a 1-year-old baby girl in Philadelphia said that their baby’s brain tumor has shrunken after the infant was kissed by Pope Francis during his visit to the United States this September.
Her parents are calling what happened after that kiss- ‘the miracle on market’.
Joey and Kristen Masciantonio assure that there is hardly any trace of the tumor in the brain of their one-year-old daughter named Gianna, a baby who have spent a lot time in the cancer ward at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
I think this is all, this is from God.
“He just caught our eye…it’s like God told him”, said Joe.
A scan from August shows a visible tumor but it’s hard to detect the tumor in the scan from late November. “It’s just, it’s just a blur”, Kristen Masciantonio said.
Joey Masciantonio indicated that Gianna will continue to receive chemotherapy treatments, as operation still remains as a non viable option to keep reducing the tumor’s size. “She’s our inspiration. She’s really the best little girl”. “She’s blowing kisses. She’s started to point, started pointing at things”.

At first, Joe was anxious about bringing Gianna to the pope knowing that the large crowd might have an effect on her immune system.
