The parents of USA actor Anton Yelchin are suing the makers of his auto, after it rolled downhill and killed him.

“Anton Yelchin was crushed and lingered alive for some time, trapped and suffocating until his death”, the lawsuit says.

“Anton was our only son and remarkable human being”, Victor Yelchin told reporters. “It is against nature when a parent buries his own child”.

The family of late actor Anton Yelchin has filed a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automotive for his death, Autoblog reported on Tuesday.

According to the family’s attorneys, Yelchin was sent a recall notice for the vehicle-one that didn’t arrive until a week after the actor’s death.

Dordick said Yelchin had returned to his home on the evening of June 19 to pick up something he had forgotten and exited the auto, “believing the vehicle to be in park”.

Fiat Chrysler (FCAM) filed a recall notice in April with federal safety regulators for the 2015 Grand Cherokee, the model Yelchin owned, along with 1.1 million cars and SUVs. “We intend to hold them accountable and intend to have jury”.

As well as the design and/or manufacture of the Subject Gear Selector were defective in that the Subject Gear Selector has an unfamiliar movement that is not intuitive and that provides poor tactile and visual feedback to drivers, increasing the potential for unintended gear selection and vehicle rollaway.

“This vehicle prior to Anton’s death had over 700 rolling incidents, dozens of people injured that they knew about”, said Dordick.

Yelchin is perhaps best known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek franchise. According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, the electronic gear shift on those models left some drivers uncertain if the cars were in park, until the machines started moving again.

Victor said: “With unbelievable grief, we made a decision to come here to prevent other families with the same tragedy. He was just loving – to us, his friends – and he loved life very, very much”. “These instructions include advising customers to set the parking brakes in their vehicles before exiting”.
