Mom Courtney Solstad said on Facebook her daughters didn’t know about their newly-adopted brother, Nathan. “We met them at the door and told them that we had been out Christmas shopping and got them a gift to share…”

In the video, the girls’ hands fly to their mouths as they walk up to the tree and spot Nathan sleeping blissfully underneath it. One of the girls begins to cry as another jumps up and down with joy.

By Sunday, Solstad’s video received more than 60,000 views and 600 likes.

To say the girls were surprised may be the understatement of the century.

Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed and other news outlets have shared the story.

Chloe’s wishes came true when her parents came home with baby Nathan.

‘Feeding my little man and reflecting over the last few day’s events!’ she wrote in a sweet post. While the family have been inundated with congratulatory messages, proud mum Courtney is happily spending time reflecting on a life-changing week.

‘This has been one of the most magical experiences in our lives!
