Paris attack ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud Killed

Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said this week that three cars, the Seat, a Polo and a Renault Clio, arrived in convoy from Belgium on the eve of the attacks.

“Twitter users are calling for a display of “noise and light” in Paris to mark the one-week anniversary of the attacks, galvanized under the hashtag “#21h20” – or 9:20pm, the time when the November 13 attacks began. They told the BBC they couldn’t believe she would have blown herself up.

French police are still looking for Salah Abdeslam, 26.

France has called for a global coalition to defeat the extremists and has launched air strikes on Raqqa, the de-facto Islamic State capital in northern Syria, since the weekend.

Investigators believe the attacks – the deadliest in France since World War Two – were set in motion in Syria, with Islamist cells in neighbouring Belgium organising the mayhem. “We know that there could also be a risk of chemical or biological weapons”, he added. “That’s why the threat is still there”.

In France, still reeling from the chaos and newly-declared war by President François Hollande, the National Assembly voted Thursday to extend the country’s state of emergency for three months.

His comments came after perverse ringleader of last Friday’s massacre, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was killed as cops stormed an apartment block in a Paris suburb.

French officials confirmed Abaaoud’s death in the battle early Thursday after identifying his remains. But the prosecutor’s office left open the possibility that Abaaoud may also have detonated an explosive device on his person.

The Paris attacks in which 130 people died have raised troubling questions about border security in the Schengen zone, where citizens of 22 European Union countries, plus non-EU Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein, enjoy passport-free travel.

The Belgian district of Molenbeck has been linked to several terrorism groups. “I don’t think she had the intention to be a suicide bomber”, a friend said.

The new tally was announced Friday by the Interior Ministry.
