Paris suspect Salah Abdeslam in Syria

Police are investigating whether Abdeslam bought around 10 detonators from a fireworks company, which may have been used by the suicide bombers involved in the massacre.

French intelligence authorities believe Salah Abdeslam, a main suspect in the Islamic State’s coordinated attacks in Paris, has successfully escaped to Syria.

Belgian officials aren’t so sure, however.

Reports have suggested that Abdeslam was high at the time of the attacks, and he is the ex-manager of a bar which was a haven for junkies and has since been closed down.

The attacks would target the Jewish community, the education system and the transportation system in Paris, according to the report citing Abaaoud.

Ali Oulkadi’s lawyer says that he was the man that picked up Abdeslam in Brussels later on, and that Abdeslam admitted being part of the attacks. “Salah Abdeslam asked him to take him to Schaerbeek, which my client did after stopping in a café on the road”, the lawyer said on Friday morning.

‘For my client, a childhood friend of the two brothers, it was a shock, He could not understand it and could not think clearly’.

A court on Friday ordered Oulkadi detained for a further 30 days.

Today Belgian authorities questioned two more people over the attacks, one as a suspect and another as a witness.

Martins said Oulkadi has not done anything wrong.

“Salah told him that his brother, Brahim, had killed people in Paris and had blown himself up”, he said. His fingerprints, Molins stated, have been present in a auto connected with the assaults.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Abdeslam was stopped by police at the French-Belgian border but then released.
