The 35-year-old Hamilton, Ont., native is now ranked No. 42 in the world and is playing the best golf of her life.

Inbee Park could tell right away Wednesday that this was not an ordinary golf tournament.

“(It was) frustrating that the golf swing wasn t there and hadn t been for a few days”, she said.

She hasn’t broken par on the LPGA Tour since April.

Mexico’s Gaby Lopez describes the Olympics as “the biggest experience” of her life representing Mexico and wearing the Mexican flag colors.

“I really fought hard today and played quite solidly”. But the women’s competition features a star-studded field.

Tawin Hanprab defeated Kim Tae-Hun of South Korea, 12-10, in a men’s flyweight (58kg) match, to advance to the sport’s quarter-finals.

Pornanong, who had an even-par 71 on the first day, struggled on Thursday to finish one-over par, and lies in 38th place in the event.

World number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand was firmly in the hunt at two-under.

Majority were on the course Sunday afternoon, either watching the men finish or hearing the cheers as they practiced.

Canada will be hoping for a surprise medal in this event – something they hadn’t perceived to be a real opportunity prior to 2016.

Lewis made so many birdies she lost count. She figured that she wasn’t going to sweat it after getting married on August 6.

U.S. Olympic teammate Rickie Fowler birdied his last two holes for a 67.

Brooke Henderson is a tremendous talent.

There has not been a women’s golf event since American Margaret Abbott won a nine-hole Olympic competition at the Paris Games in 1900.

Behind Jutanugarn, Park and Kim, three players are two shots behind in a tie for fourth, with another trio tied for seventh on three under.

All four are in the top ten.

Still to come for the LPGA Tour is one last major, the Evian Masters next month in France. “The only thing I want to do is make the Thai people proud and happy with me”, she said.

“Someone was just telling us that TV ratings for the men were awesome, through the roof, and that was really exciting to hear”, said Henderson, ranked No. 3 in the world. “I’d like to have a family soon, and that’s probably my priority maybe the next couple years”.

South Korea’s Inbee Park, a multiple major victor, felt the same way. After taking the first set 21-18 the Germans got off to a hot start in the second, scoring six of the first seven points on their way to a 21-14 victory.

For now, it’s all about the Olympics.

Henderson said that conditions had improved between the first and second rounds, allowing her to be more precise with her approach.

Seven-time major victor Inbee Park leads on the Olympic Golf Course at 10-under 132 after shooting a second-consecutive 5-under 66 on the Gil Hanse-designed course.

“I was excited from the get go with the announcement of the Olympics, ” Lewis said.
