Parton on 2016ers: ‘I think they’re both nuts’

“I think they’re both nuts”, said Parton. You’re never gonna be happy; you’re gonna be sick. “I have a huge gay and lesbian following and I’m proud of ’em, I love ’em and I think everybody should be themselves and be allowed to be themselves whoever they are, whatever they are”.

You know what, I have so many [gay] people in my companies. “Most of the gays I know just want to make the world a more attractive place like I do”, she said when asked what she has learned from the gay people in her life. Interviewer Chris Azzopardi says he only got 11 minutes with Dolly, and he used a lot of them to talk about her views on “the gays”, a term she repeats several times.

“Oh, there are some in the mountains who still don’t know quite what to make of it or how they should feel about it, but they’re ours and they’re who they are and we know they’re wonderful and they’re like us”, Parton said. “We accept them-we embrace them”. “Right now, I’m just not sure”.

ELO, Christine and the Queens, Adele, Justin Bieber and Coldplay have all shuffled down the top 10 to make space for the three new entries at the top of this week’s chart.

Regardless of where she stands politically, though, the darling of country music said the fact that a woman is finally a nominee of a major political party in the U.S.is a sign the country has “come a long way, but we’re still talking about it”. My mama’s people were hysterical; my daddy’s people were hysterical. “They got us all scared to death about everything”. I don’t think we should be judgmental. I try to find things to laugh about and so anyway, I just say whatever I say.
