Passengers Feared Dead After Bus Falls Into Pond In Bihar

Madhubani: At least ten passengers were killed and six others feared dead when a bus fell into a pond along the state highway in Bihar’s Madhubani district on Monday.

According to Madhubani district administration sources, four bodies, including a woman’s, have been recovered from the pond till yet. The bus was travelling to Sitamarhi from Madhubani – about 180 kms northeast of Patna.

“Since then no one has come out alive”, said Rajat Kumar, an eyewitness, to a private news channel.

Reports said villagers have been protesting against the administration for arriving late at the spot for rescue. “We are unable to do much to save the people trapped inside the bus”, said BDO present at the spot for rescue operations. Bihar government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to all the victims.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed sorrow over the incident. Villagers resorted to heavy brickbating that hampered relief operations.
