Passengers Stranded On Alton Towers’ Smiler Ride ‘For An Hour’
The visitors became stuck around 11am and remained dangling from a high point of the ride at 2pm.

A spokesperson for the theme park in Staffordshire said: “There was an evacuation and all guests are now clear”.
A spokesman for the theme park said there was a “temporary stoppage” to investigate falling debris from the carriage – but insisted nobody was hurt.
In a statement following the latest incident, an Alton Towers spokeswoman said: “On Thursday, September 1, Alton Towers Resort stopped The Smiler to investigate claims a piece of debris that had fallen from a carriage”.
The Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers has broken down, trapping passengers in the air just months after it reopened following a crash.
The £18m ride was only reopened in March.
A spokesman for the park said that the ride had been evacuated and was now closed to guests.
Katie’s post come after people took to social media earlier today to express their shock over the breakdown of the ride.
Vicky Balch and Leah Washington had life changing injuries when Smiler crashed in 2015, with three others suffering serious injuries at the time.
As a result, the full carriage ploughed into the rear of the empty vehicle, leaving two women needing leg amputations.
Five people were left seriously injured, and an investigation found that a computer block had been over-ridden by staff, which caused the crash.

Liam Dennett, 33, from Cheltenham, was in the queue for the ride when an announcement was made about a “technical fault”.
“The guy came up and said that there was a technical issue and hopefully they’d get it sorted soon”.

When an empty auto came to a halt on a section of track called the Cobra Loop there was no system for staff to see it, the court heard.
