The Hammers secured a first Premier League win at their new stadium this weekend, with Michail Antonio scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Capital, which will receive a hospitality berth at the London Stadium as part of the deal, is the principal investor in Nigerian Premier League outfit FC Ifeanyi Ubah, who will also benefit from the agreement and become West Ham’s official Nigerian football club partner.

‘I had an interview a year ago and I was asked if I’d rather be the last goalscorer at the Boleyn Ground or the first goalscorer here – I said both, but this is a great feeling!

The 26-year-old continued: “It’s always great to be in history and especially so as the goal won us the match”, and when talking about the build-up, Antonio concluded “It was a nice bit of play, the ball held up nicely for Gokhan and it was one of those that I’m always going to be there [at the far post].” .

“Are we going to try to get one?” To get the first three points as early as possible is always important.

“I am going to speak with the chairman and director of recruitment on Monday and if we get one, it’s got to be a good one”.

Arter was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Cheikhou Kouyate, but it was his first booking for dissent which irritated his manager.

Defender Steve Cook told the club’s website: ‘The sending-off was huge – it changed the game.

“I’m delighted not only for the three points, but because we’ve done it against a team who like to counter attack”.

“Even to have kept a clean sheet would have been brilliant”.

“We need to be more disciplined and keep 11 players on the pitch”. Two games and no points, it’s very disappointing’.
