Bridgestone also ran a Facebook page facebook.com/pinkcapdrive to encourage followers to get on board and share moving stories from those who have been affected by the disease, to push the message out about early detection being an important key to fighting breast cancer.

Bridgestone’s “Pink your ride” campaign for 2015 has raised nearly $50,000 for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF), with almost $600,000 being raised since the campaign began in 2008.

Pink for Cancer hosted the event at the Northside Seventh-day Adventist Church. The lengths of time stretched from 10 weeks to 35 years. Between them, they are hoping to raise £500 for what is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity. When she announced it’d been 35 years since her diagnosis, the crowd whooped and stood in an extended applause.

The group, who work in different departments at Debenhams in The Lanes, stripped down to their underwear in front of passing shoppers in a bid to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

The idea was first discussed about a month ago and, despite a few being apprehensive at first, they eventually agreed to it.

Regular screening helps
