Pakistani officials confirmed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had spoken to Modi, expressing his sadness over the attack and saying Pakistan would investigate any information that India provides.

“Looks like the Prime Minister trusts those on the other side of the border more than us even when they have betrayed us again and again”.
In the statement issued by the Press Information Bureau of India, Sharif appreciated the maturity shown by the Indian government while tackling with a terror attack.
The United Jehad Council, an alliance of 13 Kashmir-based rebel groups, claimed its “highway squad” stormed the base.
Indian troops backed by helicopters searched the air force base after a weekend of fierce fighting with attackers left seven soldiers dead.
“In line with Pakistan’s commitment to effectively counter and eradicate terrorism, the Government is in touch with the Indian Government and is working on the leads provided by it”, the spokesperson said.
“Pakistan has nothing to do with the attack but ironically the Indian government, media and their armed forces are suffering from Pakistan phobia”, added the UJC spokesman.
He asserted that terrorists were trying to disrupt the efforts to bring peace between the two countries. Criticizing Pakistan for condemning the Pathankot attack, the editorial said Islamabad is ‘faking by doing so’.
Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Mohammed Asif has said the Indian leadership had not levelled any allegation on Pakistan regarding the Pathankot airbase terror attack.
Parrikar visited the Pathankot Indian Air Force base in Punjab on Tuesday along with the chiefs of the army and air force.
According to reports, Sharif assured Modi that his government would take prompt and decisive action against the terrorists.

When asked if the attack occurred because of security failures, Parrikar said, “I do see some gaps but I don’t think we compromised security”. “Leaders of both the countries had not given any controversial statement regarding the Pathankot attack”, he added. The minister said the NIA had started investigation into the attack. We have been able to eliminate the fifth terrorist.
