Appreciating Pakistan’s successes on security and economic fronts, he said he salutes the country’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism, adding more than any other country, Pakistan remained a victim of the terrorism over the past many years.
He said both countries in 2014 prepared roadmaps and targets for each strand of cooperation to provide guidance to the concerned ministries and organisations for implementation.
IN yet another clear manifestation that India is not at all interested in normalization of relations with Pakistan, the authorities in New Delhi put the capital on high alert and security was beefed up at vital installations, important buildings and crowded places.
Pakistan had shared intelligence with India about possible terror attacks, Aziz said. Pakistan has formed a Special Investigation Team, an FIR has already been registered and the investigating team has sought permission to visit the scene of the incident in Pathankot to gather necessary information and evidence. He further welcomed Pakistan’s commitment to vigorously pursue investigations into the India’s Pathankot airbase attack.
Hammond welcomed Pakistan’s efforts for reconciliation in Afghanistan and said they discussed support of the global community to the Afghan reconciliation process. “Pakistan geo strategic location has been a source of tension now represents a source of opportunity to develop North-South energy route and east-west trade routes to China” . However, this time it was somehow leaked to the media.
To another question regarding the precondition by Taliban for peace talks with Afghan government, he said that Afghan reconciliation process was actually between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
Aziz expressed confidence that the Afghan reconciliation process would start in the next few days.
